How to Save When Purchasing Home Insurance

4 March, 2011 (07:17) | Home Insurance Help | By: admin

There is no doubt that you want the best deal possible when you need to purchase a home insurance. This is absolutely very important if you own a house but it can also cost you quite a bit of serious money. The good thing though is that there are some ways to save money when buying home insurance.

Most, if not all home insurance quotes, are based on many varying factors. You can save a huge amount of money if you know these varying factors. You don’t really need to spend a lot of money to get a decent insurance to keep your home secured in case something goes wrong.

Here are some tips on how to get lower home insurance quotes

1. Quit smoking. Don’t raise an eyebrow just yet, a lot of insurance companies offer discounts if no one smokes at home. The reason is that most of reported home fires are caused by smoking accidents.

2. Pay premium upfront. If you pay monthly, you’ll end up spending a quite a bit of money paying interest on the total amount that you owe the insurance company.

3. Compare insurance quotes. Go online, check insurance companies’ websites and request for
insurance quotes, find the cheapest quote with the best coverage. Don’t just make a purchase without looking for other insurance companies, a lot of companies are willing to give you discount just to the “sale”.

4. Improve your home’s safety and security. Install burglar alarms, smoke detectors and simple deadbolts. They can make a lot of difference when your insurance company sees it. What difference? Let’s just say some considerable amount of discount.

5. Try to buy multiple insurance policies from your insurance company. Do you have a car? If you do and it’s not yet insured, you might want to buy an insurance policy for it as well. Some good insurance companies give as much as 20 percent discount if you purchase bundled insurance policies from them.
